In our search for Official Anti-Jewish Acts in foreign countries, in the Summer and Fall of 2020 we sent emails to organizations around the world in seven languages: Arabic, Croatian, Estonian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish.
The emails were to let organizations know about the OAJA project, and to ask if they knew of any researchers interested in a job of looking for project Acts.
To make our emails easy for the recipients, we embedded our message in the body of the email itself, so viewers wouldn’t have to click on an unknown link. We also presented our information in English in the right column, and the target language on the left, in what we call split-screen emails.
The emails were sent to universities, libraries, government offices and other organizations that seemed to be associated in some way with Judaism or Jewish causes.
Most of the Subject lines in those emails read: Official Anti-Jewish Acts Project/ in (the foreign language) (Official Anti-Jewish Acts Project) (in English)
The list below shows the organizations we sent the split-screen emails to, with a link to a sample PDF of the split screen email in each language.
Surprisingly, (as of 12/31/2020) our project did not receive any useful results from these cold call emails.
